An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court Thursday adjourned till July 27 the trial of a cybercafe operator, Emeka Anuguo, who allegedly impersonated Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) officials.

Magistrate O. G. Oghre adjourned the case following the absence of the two JAMB officials who reported the case, Mr Sunday Aladegbaye and Mr Badaru Jubril.

Anuguo, was arraigned last May 5, on a two-count charge of fraud and impersonation.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted N100, 000 bail.

Prosecuting Inspector Okete Ejime told the court that Anuguo committed the alleged offences between last May 1 and 30, at No. 7, Ojora Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

He said the defendant deceived 70 JAMB Universities Matriculation Examination (UME) candidates that he was a JAMB official.

Anuguo then allegedly obtained N3, 000 from each candidate under the guise of changing their ages, courses, institutions and to also generate Remitter Codes for them.

The offences, Ejime added, contravened Sections 323 and 376(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
