Judge Fishim arraigned for taking N4.6 million bribe

Justice Agbadu Fishim,the judge of the National Industrial Court (NIC) has been arraigned by the EFCC over collection from Seven Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) a sum of N4.65 million.

He was arraigned on a 19-count charge of unlawful enrichment.

He was therefore granted bail on self recognizance.

It was reported that according to Rotimi Oyedepo,EFCC's prosecutor that Fishim collected a total sum of N4.65 million from seven SANs,a lagos-based lawyer and one other law firm between 2013 and 2015.

He claimed that the money was paid into Fishim's firstbank account,300819941

Oyedepo also emphasized that the Judge couldn't give an account of how the money got to his account.

Judge Fishim pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prof. Amuda Kehinde,Fishim's counsel pleaded that he be granted bail on self recognizance and that he will not jump bail.

Justice Adebiyi then granted bail to Justice Fishim.

He received N1.4 million from Chief Felix Fagbohungbe (SAN) between 5th of December 2013 and 25th of February 2015.

N1.1 million received in Multiple tranches from Paul Usoro (also a SAN) between 5th of August 2015 and 26th of March 2015.

Also Chief Gani Adetola Kazeem gave him N100,000 on the 10th of February 2015 and Mr Uche Obi allegedly gave him N250,000 between 17th and 20th of October 2013.

N500,000 was allegedly received from Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN) on the 20th of June 2013.
N500,000 was allegedly received in multiple tranches from Chief Adeniyi Akintola on the 3rd of June 2013 and 26th of February 2015.

EFCC also claimed he received a sum of  N250,000 twice from Dr. Joseph Nwobike on the 12th of December 2014 and 10th of September 2015.

Enobong Etteh,a Lagos-based lawyer was said to have transferred a sum of N300,000 to Fishim on the 27th of October 2014.

According to EFCC,Alliance Law firm also paid N250,000 into his account on the 21st of August 2015.

His trial has hereby being adjourned till 11th of October 2017.
